PvP plays a role in The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) MMORPG, but the size of this role is disputed in the community. Because new updates usually revolve around other content of PvE. Not everyone likes it.
MMORPG's latest PvP update, The Elder Scrolls Online, disabled the PvP area Cyrodiil's armored device for several weeks to test the impact on game performance. For a long time, performance has been an issue in ESO's PvP. But what about new content?
What's wrong with PvP? ESO undergoes a significant expansion every year and recently received three more DLCs. These tell a familiar story throughout the year. 2021 is Blackwood's expansion of The Gate of Obliteration. These updates will bring the story to the forefront.
There are some new game areas, more influencing the tasks and functions of PvE. This year, these are NPC buddies. Players can use them to master challenging dungeons without the help of other players. NPC does not work in PvP.
However, it cannot be said that nothing happened in PvP. Since the launch of the new Champion System 2.0 with DLC ambition flame in mid-March, it also impacts the player-to-player battle. However, there is a lack of proprietary PvP functions and content that extend this aspect of MMORPG ESO.
PvP or PvE? ESO community debate
This is why the community debate: of course, the gaming community has noticed the PvP situation. For many years, there have been discussions about the importance of PvP in ESO. The PvP mode of MMORPG is entirely optional. You will not be attacked without your consent, and if you don’t want to, you don’t have to participate in the battle around the imperial city.
On the other hand, those who like PvP can fight duels, fight on the battlefield or participate in Alliance Wars to get the title of Empire.
It must be said that for the PvE part, sitting on the throne is entirely irrelevant. The emperor and his buffs only affect PvP.
PvP in ESO is separated from the rest of MMORPG. It almost looks like its own game. Great, but when PvE players don't even notice what is happening in the significant country of Tamrell and are currently allowed to become emperors, it is a bit strange.
The fact that there is hardly any innovation in the system makes you understand the frustration of PvP players who think that developers are ignoring this model.
The community says this: But because not everyone likes PvP, and ESO attaches great importance to stories and missions, discussions on this topic continue to increase. We have summarized some voices from the community here.
Those who are in favor of PvP brought the following arguments:
Ozazz said (via the official ESO forum): Now is the time for something to happen here. If ESO can initiate a PvP campaign in some way, the campaign will pass or restore skills and balance to the old state [...] Seriously, Said that the game hadn’t improved much for PvP fans, and something is needed to breathe new life into it.
Micah_Bayer agreed (via the official ESO forum): Has PvP been completely abandoned? There may be a new siege weapon in PvP, which makes me angry because there are new dungeons, trials, etc., in PvE.
Cheesy pizza said: ESO desperately needs more choices. It's not like PvE has new PvP content every year. Two teams with 10 or 20 players each, arena games, battle royale... These are not necessary but help prevent PvP burnout.
Opponents of PvP object to the following statement:
harvest thinks PvP is good: PvP in ESO is a complicated thing. Lag is a big problem. But when PvP works, it's fun.
Jimmy_The_Fixer opposes more PvP content (via the official ESO forum): Let's stop dispersing the player base any further. It would be dangerous. Open-world PvP especially requires a large number of players.
Tandor wants to know (via ESO official forum): Pure PvP population only accounts for a small part of the total population. Since the birth of PvP, people have been complaining about PvP, but now they are still in the majority. PvP players are still playing ESO because despite their I think there is a problem, but there is no better option.
There seems to be almost no consensus here. PvE fans hope to have more PvE content in ESO, but PvP players will eventually have new fun. It is impossible to say whether significant innovations and changes can be expected in the player-to-player battle. Maybe at some point, Zenimax Online development studio will focus on the mass production of PvP. However, for now, PvE seems to be a priority.
What do you think of PvP in ESO? Do you have enough work to do or want more incredible innovation?
