AO Tennis 2 Review - Not quite an ace - tennis game - Video Peeling news, instructions, exemplary procedures, reviews and culture
The second attempt of Big Ant Studios is more successful than the first, but not everything is good on the squares.
While annual entries are recorded in other great sports, in which the fans like to return again and again, tennis has shown this generation less than outstanding on all three major consoles with only a few mediocre titles. Developer Big Ant Studios wanted to improve the presence of sport with 2018 ao tennis and although I never had the chance to get it into the hands, it is no secret that it was a colossal disappointment at the start. Although updates have improved the experience for some, the game has never left a lasting impression.
Big Ant is unwilling to escape a challenge, and has decided to continue the series despite their stumbling blocks, leading to the simply titled continuation of this year ao tennis 2. And although it seems to be eager to fix some of the problems of the original game, there are a number of inconsistencies and game mechanics that reduce fun so much that it is difficult to recommend anyone who is not ready to challenge the bad the good.
Which makes a tennis game or breaks, of course its basics. Here is the ao tennis 2 both succeed and fails in various aspects by adding the feeling of dynamics and decision-making in the fraction of a second of sport and at the same time involved the control scheme until frustration. This is due to the fact that both the movement of the player and the aim of their shots are mapped to the left stick. This means that the game uses a little automatic movement to get a part of the micro-managements from the positioning of your player, but it does not always feel good in action, as there is really no clear indication, when your player from manual Switches to automatic movement.
The steep learning curve suggests the head when you find that you need a good positioning for the game, the ball aim and keep your firing button just long enough to achieve a precise return - everything within one or two seconds. With higher levels of difficulty, rallyes feel unnecessarily cumbersome, which leads to an infinite feeling, only to get through. It may feel a bit like the tension of a true tennis game, but it does not mean that it is very fluid for the playing person. The entire boredom can be mitigated by lowering the difficulty to the lowest setting, making the need to prepare your blows are almost completely eliminated. However, this ultimately has the exact effect that the game feels too easy.
I found that amateur difficulties were both relaxed enough to have fun and challenging enough to hold me on trot in the first few hours. But even though it fought stronger to move with pretty generous windows over the field to prepare my blows, never felt as liquid as it was because the game sometimes decided not to register my movements - a problem On which I strangely, too, WeltTourne tennis a few years ago - what led to my player just like an idiot standing there. This often happened enough to dampen my experience, and in a game where each point counts, this is a completely unacceptable problem.
Despite these irritations, I like the simplified assignment of the shooting types to the facial buttons in the game very well, so that a wild forehand feels satisfactory with beautiful top spin. The solid Ki of the game will lead you with hard hits into the opposite corner of the baseline if you allow this. Therefore, it is immediately a priority to control the different shots. If you chain a perfectly matched piece to have time for repositioning, this can make the difference between winning and losing a game. However, it is quite easy to abuse the ki in the lower levels of difficulty - a fact that will delight or disappoint them depending on their idea of fun. Before I increased the difficulty on the third stage, I normally won points by simply pushing myself to the service line after my first return and a flat forehand in the back corner that did not occupying the Ki.
I was excited to see that some of my favorite players and top seeds like Rafael Nadal and Gael Monfils were playable, but it's a pretty shattering experience to see some high-ranking players and others are not. In the overwhelming total of 25 real tennis professionals, many extraordinary modern players like Roger Federer, Serena Williams, Novak Djokovic or Maria Sharapova are missing. So funny it may be to go to the places with some of these guys and girls, it's a real crap that they do not have the opportunity to play them against their most exciting matchups.
Thanks to the incredible game creation tools, someone who has enough time has enough time has everything he needs to design playable characters that look identical to genuine players. In fact, with the online release function, you can easily download characters created by someone else, and there are already many lookalikes for popular missing players like Andy Murray and Stan Wawrinka. This immense level of customization for created players is breathtaking and it is definitely nice to recall the tools at any time to make the changes you want.
And you may find that you want to do this from time to time if you remember that you probably will spend a lot of time with it ao tennis 2 career mode. This mode is a pleasure to play and offers a varied collection of tasks, playing and sponsors that you can earn. If you do not appear to press conferences or perform training exercises, take part in tournaments to earn money with which you can improve the different skills of your player. You may want to be known for your deadly backhand, or you want the kind of surcharge that people are nervous. Pump your favorite skills full of points and prove to the world.
Ao Tennis 2 also offers a barebone online mode for those who want to record it with other tennis fans. During my season, many connection problems seemed to exist, and people left the game regularly, but I managed to have a handful of pleasant matches with a few friendly people. Unfortunately, I could not find custom matches, and the option "Fast match" leads exactly: very fast matches. Although it is a nice change to jump online for some rallies with real people, it is hardly the star of the show.
That's fine, as there are many other modes in which you can immerse yourself. Once you've got used to the slightly chunky control scheme of the game and have found the right degree of difficulty for your skills, ao tennis 2 begins to develop a pretty fun time despite his shortcomings. It is not an extraordinary game, and the steep learning curve will not appeal to occasion tennis fans, but it is probably the best tennis title you will find in this generation. I just hope that it succeeds in the Big Ant Studios, with a third entry in this series, for which they are clearly so passionate, finally make everything right.
