The Washington Football team around the Munich David Bada will escape from the coming season as Washington Commander in the North American NFL.
This name is the result of an 18-month process, the club announced on Wednesday. Previously, the drone of a TV station had captured the new lettering at the stadium.
"As an organization, we are looking forward to joining our new identity and to celebrate successes," said co-owner Dan Snyder in a communication of the association. "At the same time, however, we also trust our local roots and what it means representing the capital of the nation, tribute."
By 2020, the organization joined for 87 years as Washington Redskins. This name had been perceived as racist. In addition to Commander, the name supplements also stood admirals, Armada, Brigade, Sentinels, Defenders, Red Hogs and Presidents as well as the previous title Washington Football Team to choose from.
The playoffs had missed Washington this season. With seven victories from 17 games, the team landed in the third place in the NFC East Division.
